Katu women, from the south of Laos, are expert weavers, creating the fabric for their traditional skirts, tunics and shawls on backstrap looms. Their intricate beaded style of weaving is unique to their ethnic group. Young girls learn to weave from their mothers, and their designs are passed down through the generations. We purchase Katu fabrics directly from the weavers in their villages, and we design one-of-a-kind pouches, bags and pillow covers from these rare Lao textiles.
