Katu
Women from the Katu ethnic minority group from the south of Laos are expert back strap weavers and natural dyers. They use locally foraged fruit, bark, leaves, and roots to dye cotton threads, resulting in a beautiful and subtle range of colors. While weaving on their back strap looms, they add beads to the warp threads. creating traditional geometric motifs embedded in their textiles.
